Last week was spring break and my family took a trip with a few of our friends to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We have been coming to Mexico ever since I was born, but our friends have just recently started to come on the trip. Usually, the travel is easy and chill, but this time it was complete chaos. We woke up at 5:30 Monday morning and drove down to LAX. Our flight from LA to Cabo is about 2 hours and we were leaving at 11, which gave us plenty of time to hang out when we goto the hotel. Instead, our flight got delayed two separate times, the first till 1:00 and the second till 2:30. Then Alaska Airlines decided it would be best to just cancel the flight, so they decided to mess up our entire start to the trip. One of the families got tickets on another airline but Preston and I got stuck in LA for the night. The airline covered the hotel and food but it was still a bummer that we missed some of our time in Cabo.
We got to our hotel finally at around 11:00 after a long day of waking up at 5:30 for an 8:30 flight. The weather was perfect as it always is and there is nothing like the feeling of walking through the hotel doors and seeing that (above). We ate at the pool and hopped in the ocean for a bit. The volleyball courts were at the hotel next to us, but we still had fun playing.
For dinner, we went to the Sleepless Lobster for dinner where there is super good steak, shrimp, and lobster of course. At night, we just chilled on the beach and hung out on the chairs and enjoyed the warm air.
The view form our patio is amazing right when I woke up and walk out of my room. For breakfast we have concha bread and other pastries. I hung at the beach and pool all day, ordering smoothies every now and then. We also went banana boating out front of our hotel and it was a blast.
Volleyball was fun when the sand got a little cooler and for some reason I am playing way better than I usually do. We went to El Pollo De Oro for dinner, which is a hole in the wall restaurant with the best chicken and ribs that are the bomb. We walked through town and back to our hotel, stopping for churros on the way.
The next day, we pretty much repeated what we had done the past day. We hung out by the pool, and snorkeled right out front of our hotel. There are puffer fish, needle fish, and sometimes flounder. I had nachos at the pool and threw the football with my friends Riley and Preston. Dinner was at 7:15 and our group went to check out a new taco place. Let’s just say it was a keeper.
Friday, I woke up relatively early because we were going to the Cabo Surf Hotel where we can rent longboards and surf the break called Old Man’s right out front of the hotel. We chilled on the beach and switched out different boards. The Rock is a fun spot a short paddle away from the hotel. The waves were pretty fun and everyone went out. Overall, the trip was super fun and I can’t wait for next year.
